Smoked cod liver or foie de morue fumé is a grocery staple in France. Quite the treat spread on toasted bread with a dash of lemon juice and a little ground pepper and fleur de sel.

Though Officer cod liver is very popular in France it is made in Denmark, by a century-old company named Bornholms (after the island on which it is based).

    This brand of cod liver is certainly one of the best I have ever purchased; excellent flavor and texture. The container was truly loaded with liver, with minimum oil content. I intend to continue to buy this product in the future. Good cod liver is not easily found with these attributes.
