I lived in Paris for 3 years and have gone back and forth since, for 35 years. Michoko became my favorite candy long ago, having discovered it while shopping at the supermarket in Paris.
The bag is not fancy, nor does it come in an elegant box. It is merely a delectable bite that transports you to Nirvana and beyond. The caramel center almost tastes like those wonderful caramels with sea salt that are so popular along the western coast (predominantly in Bretagne and Normandy) and throughout France. It is the perfect balance of sweet and salt. To make it even more enticing, this little bit of caramel heaven is enrobed in a very fine dark chocolate that has just the perfect amount of bitterness to counter the sweet of the caramel. All in all, be prepared to not being able to stop with just one or two. I used to bring no less than 10 bags back in my suitcase and then have friends and family send them to me from Paris or bring them as a souvenir. It was always so difficult to finish the last one as I knew that I wouldn't be able to have them again until the next trip. Now, I can have them with a click of the mouse! I hope that not too many people will discover this best kept secret so I can have all the bags to myself!
